The Grain e-magazine names Susan Fornoff Senior Editor, Women in Golf
Seattle – Flagship Custom Publishing, a company specializing in golf and luxury lifestyle publications for clients in the United States and Mexico, announces that Susan Fornoff has joined the company’s publication, The Grain, as Senior Editor, Women in Golf. She will contribute a regular “Women in Golf” column to the pages of The Grain, commencing in January 2017.
The Grain is distributed to more than 1.5 million golfers by more than 30 state, regional, and provincial golf associations, and by several strategic partners.
“Susan brings a uniquely qualified perspective and expertise in women’s issues in golf to The Grain,” says George Fuller, president and owner of Flagship Custom Publishing. “Women are an extremely important yet underserved segment of the golf market, and the content Susan will provide will address their needs and interests.”
“I’m excited about this opportunity to partner with The Grain and produce content that speaks directly to women golfers,” Fornoff says. “Women generally play the game for a different reason than do men — it’s about socializing, not competing — so they talk about the game differently. We’ll have a little something for everyone in The Grain, from the latest equipment designed for women to the courses that roll out a women-welcoming carpet to the tips and advice that will enhance her enjoyment of the game.”
Fornoff started her career as a trailblazing sportswriter who helped open locker rooms and career paths to women in the 1980s. She co-founded the Association for Women in Sports Media and in recent years built the women-centric golf website GottaGoGolf.com from scratch to approximately 5,000 subscribers. At first a digital magazine, GottaGoGolf transitioned into a website and today is a media company for women who love the game.
The Grain will publish seven editions in 2017. Following the January kickoff issue, subsequent editions will be built around the Majors, a Presidents Cup preview, and travel. Revenue is shared with participating golf associations, giving back to the game in a significant way.
